Causes of migration to Madina

Migration to Madinah is indicated in Surah Towbah. The literal meaning of migration is separation. In the term of Shariah, Muslims are forced to leave their homeland and home and seek refuge in another city due to the suffering of the infidels in order to protect their religion. As he migrated from Makkah to Madinah by God’s order, he is also called Hijrat Rasool. The Prophet (peace be upon him) migrated to Madinah and established an Islamic state there. This is a great event in the history of Islam. Due to this, the publication of Islam increased.

Severe opposition

The Quraish of Makkah did not like the fact that the publication of Islam would progress and increase the number of Muslims. The Quraish considered the rise of Meccan Islam a great threat to their religious and political superiority. The majority of Quraysh in Makkah refused monotheism and insisted on idolatry. That’s why they wanted to crush the Da’wa-Haq of Islam in every situation. Therefore, idolatry was included in their depravity. Therefore, they were not ready to worship one God in any case except idolatry.

Cruel treatment with peophet

The infidels of Makkah not only denied the religion of Islam, but they had decided to eradicate Islam from its roots. They did not want that Islam would be blessed with progress; for this purpose, various hardships were imposed on Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him). Hazrat Muhammad was called a magician, a madman, and a poet, and thorns were put in his path. Dirt was thrown at Hazrat Muhammad, insults were made, jokes were made, and more than that, a ujiri was thrown at Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) while he was praying. The entire family of the Prophet (PBUH) had to live in Sha’ab Ibn Abi Talib for three years in a state of hunger and thirst.

Vruel treatment with companions

The infidels of Makkah not only hurt the Prophet, but they also inflicted various atrocities on the Muslims. Mountains of oppression were broken by the Companions. Hazrat Bilal Habshi, Hazrat Khabab, Hazrat Yasir, Hazrat Sahib Rumi, Hazrat Usman, Hazrat Musab bin Umair, etc. were among these people. They were beaten and laid on hot sand. Hazrat Bilal Habshi was laid on the coals of his master. You had pits in your body, but they kept saying Ahad, Ahad.

Invitation of people from Madina

When the people of Madinah came to know that the Quraysh of Makkah were persecuting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions and were obstructing the path of Islam, they invited him (PBUH) to come to Madinah.

Climate conditions in Madina

Most of the area of Makkah is mountainous, and the climate is hot and dry compared to that in Madinah, where the climate is moderate and Madinah is better in terms of production. Therefore, it can be called a reason for emigration.

Madina Safe Place and Terms of Trade

Madinah was a safer place than Mecca. It had mountains on two sides and an oasis on one side. On the occasion of Ghazwa Ahzab, the Muslims took advantage of this state of mind. The straight and easy way to enter Madinah was on the same side. Thus, the Muslims dug a trench and thus fought a mental war.
Madinah was also an important place in terms of trade. The trade routes of Syria used to pass through Madinah, so Quraysh used to trade in Mecca. Therefore, Medina was in the way of Quraish, so to put pressure on Makkah, Muslims started monitoring their trade caravans. Rather, the main reason for the Battle of Badr was the trade caravan of Hazrat Abu Sufyan.

Embracing islam

The people of Madinah used to come to Makkah for Hajj every year, and the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to visit them in their caravans and preach to them. For this reason, Suwayd bin Samit, Ilyas bin Mu’adh, and Abu Dharr Ghaffari accepted Islam from Madinah after traveling to Taif. In the twelfth year of Prophethood, at the place of Uqbah, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, took a new oath of allegiance from twelve people who were sent to Uqbah al-Awli and Musab bin Umayr. The following year, 75 people believed in Aqaba.

Death of Abu Talib and H. Khadija, R.A.

Hazrat Khadijah and Hazrat Abu Talib, who were the protectors and mourners of Hazrat Muhammad, had left this world in Makkah, and now the chieftainship of Banu Hashim was met by Abu Lahab, who was the worst enemy of the Holy Prophet. In these circumstances, it was very difficult for the Holy Prophet to stay in Makkah.

Plan of assassination

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) decided to leave Makkah when the leaders of the various tribes of the infidels gathered in Dar al-Indah and decided to kill Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). After the first and second pledges of allegiance, the number of Muslims increased, and the infidels became very angry at the sight of Islam in Makkah and Madinah.
On Abu Jahl’s impious suggestion, it was decided that one young man from each tribe should be a swordsman and stand near the Prophet’s house at night so that when he left the house in the morning, they would all attack together. Kill the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and his responsibility will be equal for everyone, and Bani Hashim will not dare take revenge on anyone.

Divine command

The final reason for the migration was a divine command. In Surah Bani Israel, Allah had clearly indicated the migration. The companions had already migrated. Meanwhile, the Quraysh leaders were planning to kill the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). On the other hand, Allah informed Hazrat Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) through a revelation and ordered him to migrate.
